apple lifts sdk restrictions Apple lifts 3G VoIP banDon’t ask me what’s going on here, but it looks like this completely slipped under my radar. During the process of releasing the iPad, one significant and highly annoying clause was dropped from the terms of Apple’s SDK.

Developers like fring are now allowed to use 3G for VoIP calls:

You wanted it, immediately after Apple allowed it, fring launches its 3G-friendly VoIP app.

With fring on 3G, users get unrestricted, mobile communication. Now iPhone fring users can call, video call, chat and more for FREE over 3G and wifi!

Given that many iPhone-partners like T-Mobile explicitly prohibit VoIP applications on the network, it looks like we’re in for an interesting ride…
