Apple’s decision to use plastic (probably PVC) for the shell of its latest iPhone 3Gs will apparently backfire in a Palm IIIcesque fashion – the oicture below hits us via nowhereelse:

They describe it as following:

I bought an iPhone Friday morning 3GS, I normally used and a few days ago, I did the test several apps warning radars in the car when I was a passenger, the apps using the GPS chip as well as 3G, after a while my iPhone was very hot but not burning hot.

As of now, it is not known whether this is an isolated incident or a series flaw. However, past experience shows that high-speed processors and rechargeable batteries can be hard to tame: longterm industry followers are likely to recall Palm’s now-famous IIIc case cracking issues…
