While this is all nice and dandy, firmware 3.0 is said to cause huge issues when installed onto first-generation iPod touch devices. PocketGamer users have reported a variety of issues like:

  • Slowness
  • App crashes
  • Sync issues

While this definitely is annoying, it seems to be a problem of the minority – AdMob reports that bust 1% of users have updated their iPod touch devices (compared to more than 40% of iPhone heads):
