rm eng ap push img 03205 Apple: developers may preview Push Notification Service Apple has had some major eekers with its PNS service: being introduced to provide a way to cope with the lack of background processes on the iPhone, carrier resistance delayed its deployment multiple times.

Both Engadget and the Boy Genius Report report that developers have been instructed to download an application from Associated Press, and are urged to report back if they don’t start to see the notifications within 48 hours.

According to the Boy Genius, users will be able to toggle the notification settings on a per-application basis via the preferences: this means that sounds and pop-ups can be enabled and disabled on a per-app basis.
