We covered AT&T’s iPhone tethering plans some time ago – and it looks like they will become true soon. The folks at MobilityToday asked their AT&T press rep, and got the following response:

“We’re working with Apple on it and hope to make it available soon!”

While this definitely is a welcome bit of news for iPhone owners, I don’t really understand how AT&T (a GSM carrier) wants to charge extra for tethering. Customers can always pop their SIM into an UMTS modem….
